Part III. To Colombia or not to Colombia
Assuming my wee little motorcycle is still running, we'll putt into Colombia. This country has a diverse reputation depending on who you talk to, but the version I prefer is that of the motorcyclists who have actually been there. It goes something like this:
- Colombian women
- The best, twistiest, most scenic roads anyone on two wheels can ask for
- Colombian women
At the end of it, me and my poor little beaten burro of a motorcycle will find ourselves a nice Caribbean bach to call our own.
From there the route tells me I go back to Bogotá, where I presumably get back on some plane and return to the US. I prefer to think of this part of the route strictly in terms of contingency. There are lots of factors--time, money, my sanity, the health of the little motorcycle, the pending date of my sister's wedding in Mexico--and depending on those factors I may have to call it quits long before Bogotá, or I may just press on through Central America. At this point, I estimate that my resources should last me 3-4 months of travel, which makes this a reasonable estimated stopping point. What do y'all think?
