A quick real-time update. I'm currently on my way from Punta Arenas, Chile to Cusco, Peru, but due to bike problems (which I will describe in full in a soon-to-come ride report) I was stranded in Puerto San Julián for a couple of days. Thanks to desperation, elbow grease, and the good nature of the Argentine people, what started as a terrible day ended up being one of the best days of my life. After I got the bike running again, a couple of guys took me on a road that led to an abandoned slaughterhouse out on a bluff that overlooks the bay.
Today I made it to Comodoro Rivadavia. Settled in for the night before heading to Bariloche early tomorrow. I know it's cruel, but updates to the ride reports are on hiatus for a few more days until I get to Peru. Unfortunately that means that those of you waiting to see how things turned out with my dad stranded in the desert (Pata pata Patagonia Part II) will have to hang on just bit longer.
